Spinal Cord

A sudden, traumatic blow to the spinal column can fracture or dislocate the vertebrae, resulting in a damaged spinal cord. Regrettably, the nerves in the spinal cord do not fully regenerate once injured. The area of the body affected by damage to the spinal column varies with the location of the injury. Generally trauma to the spinal cord results in loss of movement, or paralysis, as well as a loss of sensation in the body.

Head Injury

Seek immediate attention after a head injury, if possible. Doing so quickly may lessen the possibility of permanent brain damage. Severely brain-injured individuals may require a lifetime of medical care and assisted living. Thankfully, not all head injuries lead to severe brain damage, and some traumatic brain injuries may result in only temporary harmful effects. However, every brain injury is serious!
